[Ten is on a break and happens to take the hallway that goes past Nikola's office. Which makes Ten wonder if those wines are done that he's supposed to taste.
Locked.
That's not a problem and sonics the door open. Sorry Nikola; he's rude and not ginger]
[Wines take time to make correctly, something Nikola is very well aware of seeing as some of the wines his family created needed to age ten or more years to taste just right.
Of course, there were ways to make quicker ones... and Nikola was still testing to see if he had the right conditions for some of the ones he was rather fond of..
And Yet, once he heard the lock getting messed with, he sighed and paused what he was doing before encasing the entire room into darkness. He knew for a fact it wouldn't harm his wines.
So, when the door opens, Ten is greeted with a wall of inky darkness and that same suffocating shadow as before while Nikola stands there beside a table with his arms crossed, just waiting to see what the other man will do. ]
[Not looking for the light switch. Ten is greeted by the old friend of the vacuum feeling of space. His eyes focusing quickly to see; where someone's shadow is and his by-pass to breathe in the vacuum and a calm voice]
[Nikola just stands there, arms crossed as he observes Ten and how he seems to be unaffected by some of the more dangerous affects of his defenses.
It really is a curious thing. The ability that was feared by most who knew about it, barely fazed this man. If he was even a man at all. Nikola considering how to answer the question before letting out a sigh and gradually letting the shadows disburse.]
Hardly. A good wine takes a decade or more to mature, some even longer so unfortunately you shall have a rather long time before my best ones are up to gracing your pallet.
However, some of the quicker ones to make are progressing nicely. Regardless, I would rather you learned how to knock before waltzing in and I'm rather sure that door was locked.
[His are are still crossed and his full attentions on Ten just watching him. Someone's rather protective of his space.]
For Umbra Vino, one hundred years is the minimum requirement. One hundred years within the shadows where no light is permitted to touch it as it ages from the finest of my vineyard's grapes.
[He may wish to question just... how long the average lifespan for Nikola's people was.]
However, usually, ten to twenty years of aging does provide a rather decently sweet wine.
[At least someone hasn't moved from that one spot? And there's a slap across the face when Nikola - one hundred years, and Ten's been in this spot for an actual year. Which the drama made it seem like an even longer time; but an actual year is still long for him.
There's also a hard swallow that he does inwardly - because - whenever someone is randomly selected to go back. He'll be his next face. There is no getting past that. At all. Nikola might notice how someone's face just turned hard; which also seems to take away the youthful look. What is suppose to say? See you in a hundred years? Even if Ten could live that long here still he highly doubts that will be the case.
But this does add another piece to the puzzle; that Nikola's species live an awfully long time]
[Of course Nikola notices the shift in Ten's features when the hundred years aging was mentioned. It was becoming apparent to Nikola that there was a lot more to this man than meets the eye and apparently he hit a nerve.
As for that question though? Nikola just becomes still and falls into his rather natural neutral expression that has garnered him a reputation for being a rather effective diplomat back home.]
Immortality is a term used for those that fear death. I do not fear death, I have a rather healthy respect for it.
[He has to considering he courted death whenever he left his father's lands.]
[Ten is silent and keeps his hard but neutral face. He still hasn't come to terms with changing into his body completely. It's not that his older self is bad or that his oldest self is bad either. If anything they've been super supportive of him. It's more along the lines - that he feels like he's wasted a life burning those around him and himself in the end and is in a struggle with not wanting to go; not ready to go and if he dies doesn't want to regenerate. He wants to rest. Which is scary because that happened here; it was scary because it was slow and it did take a little bit of time to decide if he did want to come back or just allow him to finally rest. As The Doctor is silent - Nikola might notice a flicker of a flame of fire in those brown eyes
This is the game they're going to play; huh?]
I'm open-minded to the idea that things are possible.
[And Nikola was keeping that pleasantly neutral diplomatic look upon his features. Can one tell that this man is a seasoned diplomat and politician? ]
I see, then with that open mind of yours, then I suppose immortality is a possibility. However, I find that it is a myth despite some believing it to be so.
I am no more immortal than a mayfly which begs the question of how does one really measure age.
I'm a man of science. I can't rule out probability.
[A pause and seeming to eye Nikola in the soul or at least trying too at least he's not piercing with that look. The hard look does seem to slowly soften.]
Touche.
[Ten pops his mouth and puts his hands in his pockets]
One never knows what one will find in the multiverse bubble like this.
Suppose it'll keep things a bit interesting?
[There may just be the slightest hint of flirting with his eyebrows but it's more mind flirting]
[Attempting to see into Nikola's soul will garner meeting a very well crafted wall with no cracks in sight. When one is used to handling people with the ability to read minds and even torture people with their mind, one develops a rather strong defense.
Another piece to the puzzle that is Nikola Giovanni.]
Indeed it does. I find that so far, not everything is what it appears to be within this multiverse nexus we find ourselves in.
In fact, I find the ability to re-invent one's self to be rather refreshing, don't you agree?
[Was.. he flirting with him? Nikola paused and then relaxed, letting a similarly flirtatious smile grace his lips.]
Now the question really is, just how interesting my time here shall be.
[Who to call first had been a difficult thing to decide, but with the headache she had after the dream docks she needed somewhere she could go that was quiet away from her fathers.]
[Why wasn't he surprised to hear the knock so suddenly? Nikola smiled a little before setting his phone down and making sure it was off for the night. Then he answered the door to let her in.]
You could have mentioned you were nearly to my door, you know.
[She lets him go to go wandering his apartment, picking up a random book and starting to flip through it. She grinned as she held up the book.]
The time machine, huh? Totally inaccurate to actual time travel you know. Now if you have a TARDIS like my dad or a vortex manipulator then time travel is a lot easier. Well, my vortex manipulator went up in flames but it was fun while it lasted. I think Noah had to point it out to me a few times.
[He watched her wander and then saw what book she picked up of his. The bookmark showed he was half way through the book at the moment and he was just thinking about that when what she said caught his attention.]
...Hold on. TARDIS? Vortex manipulator? Are you telling me that timetravel is real?
Of course it's real. I knew it was even before I left, though getting to experience it on my own terms was quite the adventure itself.
Oh, and Noah's a friend. He's been traveling with me. Has nothing in head though so we're trying to find out who he is and what he's all about. Quite clever but no grasp on sarcasm or jokes.
[He's still very skeptical about the time travel part and would question that more later... after he determined just what kind of friend this Noah was.]
A friend that was traveling with you? One who was clever and yet didn't know much.. that sounds like quite the contradiction.
[He paused for a moment..]
He was just a 'friend' correct?
[Oh look.. a tiny bit of jealousy rearing its head. He might want to be careful about that.]
[Action] July 31st afternoonish
Locked.

Re: [Action] July 31st afternoonish
I'll take that as the wine isn't ready yet.

Define a long time.
Was it? [A really now tone and playing dumb]

Yes. Absolutely.
[Which he seems to brighten up about that thought]
If it's to better one's self, I believe anyone is capable of that. Here or in thar universe... Sometimes they just need a hand.

[Voice/Private]
Hello. I'm back.
[At least she sounds like she's in good spirits.]
Re: [Voice/Private]
I'm glad to hear you were back. How was the trip through the docks?
[Good spirits was a good sign, right?]
Re: [Voice/Private]
An adventure! Though it gave me quite the headache. Mind if I come over?

It's good to see you again. Everything feels like it's been so long since I was last hear even though I know it hasn't been.

I'm glad you returned to me. Though, it's only been three days. How long has it been for you?
